Sinking of Water Bore Reaps Reward
As part of the club's water strategy (see below) approved at a Special General Meeting in December 2007, boring commenced on Monday, 26 May 2008 by Tony's Boring Pty Ltd, with Tony & Haidar creating an ever deeper bore hole surrounded by an increasing heap of rubble changing from soil, to clay, shale some dirty water and finally bluestone with much clearer water and lots of smiles all around, particularly from those Board Members present..
The bore is down about 35 metres with an estimated flow rate of approximately 18,000 litres per hour.
Within the next few days it is expected that the bore will go down a little deeper to ensure that a constant supply will always be available.
The water has yet to be tested but it is almost certain that it will need to undergo a desalination process to make it suitable for application on the two grass greens.

The bore has now gone down to an ideal depth of approx. 43 metres with an estimated flow rate of 25,000 litres per hour and is to be capped, with water being drawn from about 35 metres.
The water has still to be tested but it tastes OK at present which will be confirmed by Trevor, Ken, Peter R, Michael T & myself and we are still all walking around.
Twenty four metres of 100mm sequenced slotted PVC pipe is now ready to be installed, over which 125mm PVC pipe will be inserted as a sleeve within the 150mm steel casing to ensure fine sediment, etc. doesn't foul up the stainless steel pump which will be lowered into the bore through a stainless steel head.
Members & neighbours are showing a lot of interest and are pleased with the developments.
