RECENT HAPPENINGS & NEWS AROUND THE CLUB

New shirts for RVBA Section:
Thanks to the hard work of President Ray & our Sponsorship Committee, we have a sponsor for our new shirts which means that a player's first shirt will be subsidised with the price dropping to around $28.
The manufacturer has made shirts available for sizing purposes on:
Sundays - 23 & 30 May 2010 @ 10.00am
Tuesdays - 25 May & 1 June 2010@ 7.00pm
Thursday - 27 May & 3 June 2010 @ 2.00pm

The club’s 30th Annual General Meeting held on Sunday, 16 May 2010 was attended by over 100 members.
Executive Director Trevor Gardoll thanked all committees and members for their support during the year.
The only change in Directors was Jerome Shaw taking the place of Hans Nyhuis who after many years of excellent service to the club has retired and is now looking forward to relaxing on a northern caravanning holiday.
The following were elected: Bowls Manager - John Leonard, Greens Manager – Bill Harper, Membership Secretary – Mary Warr, Sponsorship Manager – Ray Schaffert , Media Officer – Colin Huggins, Club Photographer – Vivienne Balfour, Sunshine Lady – Diane Emery.
Annual subscriptions for season 2010-2011 will be: Full member - $195, Senior Member - $117, Special Member - $67, Social Member - $39, Introductory Member - $67 & green fees increased from $5 to $6.
Opening Day will be Sunday, 29 August 2010.
Coaching drills will commence on Sunday, 6 June 2010.
The club will be holding a “Biggest Morning Tea” to support the Cancer Council on Wednesday, 26 May commencing at 10.30am at a cost of $5.00 per head. Enquiries and/or bookings may be made to June Simmons.

Presentation night was held on Saturday, 24 April 2010 which saw many trophy winners presented with their awards.Congratulations to all those who received trophies, particularly to a lot of new faces, and also to those who participated but were unsuccessful.
A most enjoyable roast dinner was provided by Julie, Joy & the ladies - thank you all for the time and effort you spent on satisfying those attending.
Thanks also to all the other hard workers within the club who were involved with this day.

Congratulations to the ladies representing the club's VLBA Section No. 1 side (A1) in the State Pennant Sides Championship at City of Echuca on Tuesday, 6 April 2010 who won their first two games in their section but fell short in their third game to miss out on gaining a place in the top four play-off.

Cobram (43) and Golden Square (46) both finished equal third after losing their respective games in the final four to Lakes Entrance (74) and Clayton (49) with the final being won by Clayton (57) to Lakes Entrance (46).

The 2010 Caladenia 1000 was played on Saturday, 27 March in ideal bowling conditions with a good representation within the 36 teams competing in 3 x 13 end games.
An excellent breakfast of sausages, egg, tomato & baked beans with toast got everyone off to a good start for the day followed later by a hearty hot roast beef & vegetables lunch which was well catered by the ladies & Alan Dans.
Thanks also to the Bar staff, sponsors, Tournament organisers and all other helpers for making the day such a success.
